Albuquerque, NM, July 12, 2004 - Chip's Choice, an advertisement created for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico by Philadelphia-based DMW, Inc., recently won three industry awards for excellence and creativity. Featuring an animated blue man named Chip, the ad delivers information about BlueChoice, BCBSNM's individual insurance product.
Chip's Choice received the highest recognition from the Aurora Awards with a Platinum Best of Show award. The Aurora Awards is an international competition designed to recognize excellence in the film and video industries. It specifically targets programs and commercials that would not normally have the opportunity to compete on a national level, by focusing on non-national commercials, regional or special interest entertainment and corporate sponsored film and video.
The Award of Distinction was presented to Chip's Choice from the Videographer Awards, an international awards program directed by communications professionals to honor talented individuals and companies in the video production field. Entrants include video production companies, advertising and public relations firms, corporate communications departments, cable and broadcast television operations, government agencies and schools, independent producers and wedding and special event producers. Of 2,134 entries, 12% were awarded the top "Award of Excellence" and 17% received "Award of Distinction."
The third award won by Chip's Choice was a "Finalist Award" from the Telly Awards.
Over 10,000 commercials are entered in that competition and of that only 18% are awarded "Finalist." Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
"Chip's Choice is a simple but effective message that presents comprehensive information about BlueChoice in an entertaining way. The ad makes most people smile and to have prospective customers react positively to your product advertisement is certainly a plus," said Dorane Wintermeyer, BCBSNM Vice President for Sales and Marketing. "We're delighted that three national awards have recognized the effectiveness of the Chip's Choice ad."
DMW is a full service direct marketing agency specializing in financial services. "Our relationships with Blue plans goes back to 1986," according to Warren Hunter, CEO of DMW. "Over the years we have had the privilege of assisting plans doing business in 30 states to effectively develop multi-media direct to the consumer programs for individuals under age 65 as well as to Medicare beneficiaries. BCBSNM has been an exciting client to work with in that they allow us to push the envelope in finding new and exciting ways to reach their markets. Chip's Choice is an example of that breakthrough work."
