Position Summary:

We currently have an Application Analyst position available in the Software Solutions Organization on the POS (Point of Sale) ACE Store Application team.  This position will be primarily focused on project requirement gathering, use case development, functional testing, support and delivery of all POS applications including operating system and middleware. The selected candidate is required to fulfill responsibilities related to creation and implementation of application testing using quality assurance best practices, designing software enhancements, and support POS solutions for new business initiatives. The candidate will be required to interact with operations, vendors, stores, divisions, and most groups within the IS organization and should have a strong general working knowledge of POS.  The Application Analyst is responsible for leading in all facets of the systems development lifecycle for application enhancements and existing production systems of various sizes and complexities.  The Application Analyst performs many of these tasks independently and communicates with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are delivered with the highest of quality and in accordance to standards.  The Application Analyst may complete coding or scripting assignments when necessary to meet the needs of the business. Essential Job Functions:

  • Collect, document and distribute enhancement requests to both internal and external development teams as designed.
  • Create and validate use cases with business and operation teams for new POS functionality.
  • Provide guidance to project teams as a spokesperson for the POS applications and functions.
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality and test procedures, processes and best practices with quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain test plan and test cases with associated test data based upon functional and non-functional requirements.  Provide guidance for test execution within the team.
  • Report and document defects found during test cycles and participate in defect prioritization process.
  • Coordinate information gathering for quality metrics.
  • Support functionality for all tasks in the POS arena that include application software releases and enhancement design.
  • Provide level 3 support for POS and its applications including problem diagnosis, support and resolution.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to deliver software solutions according to SDLC best practices.
  • Partner with the appropriate teams to expedite issue resolution and manage to SLAs.
  • Lead and participate in the design and implementation of large and/or architecturally significant applications.
  • Champion company standards and best practices.  Work to continuously improve software delivery processes and practices.
  • Build partnerships across the application, business and infrastructure teams.
  • Support and maintain applications utilizing required tools and technologies.  Provide support for applications, including involvement with the appropriate teams.  Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required.
  • Establish priorities for enhancements/modifications of application.
  • Develop programming specifications.  May design, code and unit test application code using SDLC best practices for application services functions.
  • Complete estimates and work plans independently as appropriate for design, development, implementation and rollout tasks.
  • Assist other personnel on assignments including mentoring or providing on-the-job training to more junior associates.  Mentor team members in software development principles, patterns, processes and practices.
  • May mentor or coach the day-to-day work activities of other junior team members. (Level 87)

Requirements

Minimum Position Qualifications: 

  • 7 or more years’ experience in system analysis, design or programming and the associated development methodologies. (Level 87)
  • 4-6 years’ experience in system analysis, design or programming and the associated development methodologies. (Level 86)
  • Ability to gather business enhancement requests and clearly document requirements for internal or external sources.
  • Proven use case writing skills.
  • Proven understanding of testing techniques.
  • Ability to act decisively to meet the needs of the business as it relates to the POS team.
  • Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to interact well in a team environment.
  • Passing score on a selected entry test for new hires.  (Test selected based on project requirements).
  • Experience with project planning.

 

Desired Previous Job Experience
  • Technical experience working with the Toshiba ACE POS system.
  • Technical experience with the Toshiba 4690 operating system.
  • Experience in Customer Service operations.
  • Experience with software release management or project management.
  • 4-6 years’ experience in testing software using similar technologies
  • IS related associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree, or comparable work experience in an Information Systems position or related business position.
  • 4 - 6 years in Applications Analyst role (Level 87)
  • 3 - 5 years in Application Analyst role (Level 86)
  • Prior experience with project planning with large size or large level complexity projects.
